Ekalavya Nyasa has a very spacious home for the deprived children of the society

The search for a permanent abode has finally come to an end for Ekalavya Nyasa. With the solid support of Rotary Club Laxmi road, Pune Ekalavya Nyasa could purchase a plot at Vetal Bambarde, Taluka Kudal, Dist Sindhudurg. The Rotary club of Laxmi road, Pune not only extended its financial support for purchasing the land but also enabled Ekalavya Nyasa to have a very spacious home for the deprived children of the society. At the moment 25 boys & girls are the beneficiaries of this facility in the most natural surroundings. They not only stay here but go to a nearby school. Ekalavya Nyasa has made many avenues open for the children. Music classes, art classes as well as sports facility is open for the kids. Everyday children go for a long walk as a result of which their health has improved considerably. Under a guidance of a medical advisor routine health checkup is done every month. This is a private hostel specially meant for the children of the poor strata of the society. The parents entrust the children to Ekalavya Nyasa for educational purpose.

The main objective of having this hostel is to ensure that the basic right of the child ‘To educate oneself’ should not be hampered. But Ekalavya Nyasa does not stop at this. There are many rights a child is entitled to. Ekalavya Nyasa recognizes them and commits itself to preserve them, cherish them. For instance a child has a right to lead a dignified life. Ekalavya Nyasa endeavors to support the child to have such a life. The child should not get abused, not compelled to work etc. but the most important right of the child, as per the objectives of Ekalavya Nyasa, is his Right to PLAY. The children here play every evening. Sports experts observe them and take efforts to enhance their abilities. Ekalavya Nyasa dreams that one day some of its children may prove themselves to shine on the national horizon of Sports.

Success stories

Sunil (name changed) was admitted in the hostel by his mother after he lost paternal grandmother. After her death the family lost the small pension she received and consequently the family was unable to pay the rent. They were literally on streets. Sunil was in 5th std. he was enrolled in the school and studied up to 8th std. But somehow it was observed that Sunil had less inclination towards academics. He believed strongly that working with hands interested him more. At that time Ekalavya Nyasa shifted to District Sindhudurg. The project of gardening was made open to Sunil. He took active interest in doing all sorts of jobs related to plants and trees. At the moment with the help of local people a professional gardener and RCF, Sunil is progressing to fulfill his dream to become a full-fledged Gardener.

Mahesh & Rakesh (names changed) are the past students of Ekalavya Nyasa who have joined here a year ago. Both had passed their 12th when they were in Pune. Rakesh had completed a diploma at Vigyanashram and Mahesh was employed in a Hotel. Both the boys have experienced such adversities of life that it’s very difficult to describe them in words. When both of them preferred to come & stay in a village, leaving behind the glitter of city life, Ekalavya Nyasa felt it was a success story. At present Mahesh is completing his Diploma in Hotel Management at college level. Rakesh has enrolled himself in the arts faculty and will be taking a degree as a Bachelor of Arts. It seems that farming will be his area and the environment will give him ample scope in doing this.

Nitu is one of the five siblings. At the age of four when she entered the institution she was a malnourished child. A neglected child as well. She came along with her elder sister. Her digestion system was weak. Now after one and half year, with proper food & diet she has turned into a perfect healthy child – a happy child going to school regularly and making rapid progress.

Ekalayva Nyasa is seeing many of the success stories coming true.

Ekalavya Nyasa realizes that it has to go a long way to nurture and develop so many deprived children. But at the same time EDUCATION being its main motto Ekalavya Nyasa has many programs in mind. Since we have a place, a building of our own the basic amenities are complete. Now Ekalavya Nyasa thinks of buying a school bus (or similar vehicle) to operate as a “School on Wheels”. This vehicle will be equipped with educational instruments, toys and books. It will go to villages and encompass the schools just to make sure that the children are educated through entertainment.

A solar system to save electricity and a biogas project are already taking shape. These eco- friendly projects will complement the natural beauty of the place.

We have a small piece of land (about 12 gunthas) where we intend to raise a sports ground where children can be brought to play. A training center providing various types of training will be constructed in near future.

Of course we need generous support from people like you for all this. All monetary help is most welcome. You can help us by donations through UPI, Bank Transfer, cheques etc.
